Cobblestones create a textured “cobbled” surface when fired. They are a low fired glaze and come in white and black. Add to bisque 04 (1060) then apply with underglaze then clear glaze add the cobblestone glaze last. During the firing process, a shattered pattern of raised, irregular chips will emerge. The underlying glaze will appear in the cracks.
Handy Tips
Once the coats of glaze begin to dry and you start to see the cobblestone cracking, apply a few coats of wax resist to protect the cobblestone. The wax will slow the drying process, so set aside overnight and wait until completely dry looking (light grey).
